Welcome to the website of Jubilate Deo, Goucher College's Roman Catholic student group with the mission to present opportunities for all interested students for in-depth study, discovery, discussion and growth within the rich tradition of Catholic Faith.

Jubilate Deo, during the past two years, has had the privilege of bringing Mass to campus once a month, and co-sponsoring with Christian Fellowship, a van to area churches including Immaculate Conception in Towson. We gather once a week to pray the rosary and have organized a few key events for Catholic students including discussion nights, dinner outings, Friday night Catechism/encyclical study, retreats, pilgrimages, and the annual March for Life in Washington D.C. It is wonderful to have a support group of your peers, faculty, and local parish as you set off on the college experience and it is that which we seek to facilitate.

People of all denominations and faiths are welcome to Jubilate Deo events regardless of religion. Please come and learn more about Jesus and His Church!  If you are interested in learning more about the Catholic faith or have any questions, we encourage you to join us.

Psalm and History

Psalm 65, 1-2
Jubilate Deo, omnis terra, alleluia:
psalmum dicite nomini eius, alleluia:
date gloriam laudi eius,
alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.

Translation:
Shout with joy to God, all the earth, alleluia:
Sing ye a psalm to His name, alleluia:
give glory to His praise,
alleluia, alleluia, alleluia

Let us always continue to raise our voices to the Lord and praise our Maker with the joy that only He can bring to our hearts!

Jubilate Sunday is traditionally celebrated the third Sunday after Easter, being so named from the first words of the Introit at Mass-"Jubilate Deo omnis terra." In the liturgy for this and the two following Sundays, the Church continues her song of rejoicing in the Resurrection. Paschaltide is an expression of Easter joy, Alleluia! The Introit for this day is an invitation to universal joy for the whole of the Body of Christ! The penitent Faithful and the newly baptized blend as one voice resounding with joy, singing to Him a new song!
